No. 24/25 Wonder Boys drop road game at No. 5/12 Dallas Baptist

DALLAS, Texas – The No. 24/25-ranked Arkansas Tech men's basketball team put forth a strong second-half rally on the road at No. 5/12-ranked Dallas Baptist, but ultimately fell to the Patriots, 69-52.

The early-season road test started out well for the Wonder Boys as they took the first lead of the game and had an eight-point lead, 11-3, by the 16:06 mark. The Patriots, however, would go on a 10-0 run over the next four minutes or so of the game to take their first lead of the game at 13-11.

The Wonder Boys were able to knot the score at 13-all at the 9:16 mark on a painted jumper by Cassius Brooks, who would go on to score a career-high 29 points, but not long after that, the Patriots regained the lead on a made three-pointer.

That would spark a methodical 18-5 run by DBU to close out the first half.

Dallas Baptist was able to keep the Wonder Boys at a comfortable distance early in the second half, but a 9-0 run that started at the 14:10 mark and lasted through the 11:20 mark brought Tech all the way within two points of the DBU lead.

On the ensuing possession following Tech getting within a bucket, the Patriots broke the run with a three-pointer to go back up by five. The Wonder Boys would get as close as four points on a pair of occasions with the last being at the 8:39 mark, but DBU's offense caught fire from there as they pushed their lead out as large as 22 points before ending with a 17-point margin of victory.

The Wonder Boys will now return home to prepare for their annual Screaming Kids Game on Monday, November 18 against Mission University. Tip-off for the game at Tucker Coliseum is scheduled for 11 a.m. and over 2,000 local elementary school kids are expected to be in attendance.
