ADA, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech women's cross country team took home some hardware on Saturday at the Great America Conference Championship as they finished runner-up, narrowly being bested by Ouachita Baptist.

Fueling the outstanding team performance were the five scoring runners for the Golden Suns as all five placed within the top-20 to earn All-GAC honors. That group was led by
Audrey Hill, who earned First Team All-GAC honors with a sixth-place finish and a time of 18:57.9. Hill is now a two-time first team runner, doing so last year.
Also earning First Team honors was
Avery Stanley as she finished 10
th overall with a time of 19:05.3. This is the first all-conference honor for Stanley.
Second Team All-GAC runners included
Libby Booth,
Ellie Akins and
Peyton Carson. Booth would finish 12
th overall with a time of 19:09.1 while Akins was 14
th with a time of 19:21.2 and Carson 16
th with a time of 19:23.6. For Booth, it is her third-straight year to earn All-GAC honors. Akins and Carson each garnered their first conference acclaim as freshmen. Akins also added GAC Freshman of the Year honors to her performance as she was the top freshman finisher in the field.
Academic awards were also given out and four Golden Suns were honored.
Calli Beshore,
Mackenzie Epperson and
Felicity West all were named GAC Elite Scholar-Athletes as they sport unblemished 4.0 GPAs.
Avery Stanley landed on the GAC Women's Cross Country Honor Roll by sporting a GPA above 3.5.
The Golden Suns will now prepare to run at the NCAA Central Region Championship on Saturday, November 9. The regional championship will be hosted by Missouri Southern and run at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Mo.
