The Arkansas Tech volleyball team is back in action on Tuesday night for another Great American Conference match. This one will take the Golden Suns on the road to Arkadelphia where they will take on Ouachita Baptist.
 
First-serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
Last season, the Golden Suns and Tigers met twice in the regular season. Ouachita won both matches in straight sets.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Golden Suns enter Tuesday night's match at Ouachita Baptist 1-11 overall and 1-2 in the Great American Conference. After winning their GAC-opener against Arkansas-Monticello back on September 12, the Golden Suns have dropped their last four matches with the last two coming in conference play.
 
In each of those last two conference matches, the Golden Suns have fought to engineer reverse-sweeps after dropping the first two sets but have fallen just short of forcing a decisive fifth set against both Southern Arkansas and Henderson State.
 
Offensively, the Golden Suns are averaging 10.9 kills/set and have a .146 team attack percentage. They have four players with at least 60 kills and are led by Kaitlyn Neal and her 83 kills. Jordan Clouse has the highest attack percentage on the team at .273 (30-kills, 77-attempts, 9-errors).
 
The Golden Suns' primary setter has been Gracie Palmer. Of the 420 teams assists registered thus far, Palmer has accounted for 212.
 
Defensively the Golden Suns are averaging 13.8 digs/set and 1.5 blocks per set. Jamie Myrick leads the team in digs with 157. Lauren Grier currently leads the team in blocks with 38.0.
 
The head coach of the Golden Suns is Kera Coleman. She is in her sixth year as head coach of her alma mater and seventh overall. In her time at Tech, Coleman is 71-72. Overall, she's 90-84.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Ouachita Baptist
Ouachita Baptist comes into Tuesday night's match with Tech 6-9 overall and 1-2 in the GAC. In their most-recent match this past Thursday, the Tigers lost in four sets to Harding. The first two sets were closely-contested with Harding and Ouachita splitting the sets, but Harding then dominated the final two sets to close out the win.
 
Offensively, the Tigers are averaging 12.0 kills/set and have a .215 team attack percentage. They have three players with at least 100 kills and are led by Kayla Steinmeyer and her 120 kills. Haley Fairchild has the highest attack percentage among prominent attackers on the team at .359 (73-kills, 156-attacks, 17-errors).
 
The Tigers' primary setter has been Courtney Hanson. Of the 572 teams assists registered thus far, Hanson has accounted for 487.
 
Defensively the Tigers are averaging 14.3 digs/set and 1.3 blocks per set. Avery Jauz leads the team in digs with 189. At the net, Leah Gardner leads the team with 33.0 blocks.
 
The head coach of the Tigers is Allison Frizzell-Kizer. She is in his sixth year as head coach at her alma mater. In her time at Ouachita, Frizzell-Kizer has a 74-72 record.
