RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Having played their final weekend series on the road this regular season, the Arkansas Tech baseball team is set to play its final two weekends at home at Baswell Field. The first of those final two series will be against Southeastern Oklahoma.
The series is slated to start with single game on Friday evening starting at 6 p.m. and conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. Live coverage for the game can be found at:

According to the best available historical records, the Wonder Boys and Savage Storm have met 44 times in a series that started in 1995. Since 2012, the two have been conference foes as charter members of the Great American Conference. In terms of the all-time series record, Southeastern Oklahoma holds a 23-21 lead over Tech.
The two teams previously played one another three times last year in their normal weekend conference series. Southeastern won the series 2-1 with wins in the opener and finale.
TALKING TECH
The Wonder Boys enter their weekend series at home against Southeastern Oklahoma with an overall record of 26-16 and a 19-8 mark in the GAC. Tech is coming off a dominant three-game sweep at East Central last weekend. The wins at ECU snapped what was a season-long five-game losing skid for the Wonder Boys and kept them in the top-three in the GAC standings.
Overall, the Wonder Boys enter their weekend series with the Savage Storm hitting .315 as a team (446-for-1,415) with 358 runs scored, 84 doubles, 15 triples and 34 home runs.
Sam Stephenson currently leads the team in batting average at .385 (50-for-130) and is one of seven players that have scored at least 30 runs this season.
Sawyer Duddleston is currently pacing the team in runs scored with 49.
Keaton Ranallo has been providing the best power production thus far and is leading the team in home runs with 10. Ranallo also has 14 doubles and two triples to post a .658 slugging percentage, which is tops on the team. Eight other Wonder Boys have hit home runs this season with Duddleston, Stephenson,
Markos Cabranes,
Logan Schwenke and
Nick Jones all having multiple homers.
On the RBI front, the Wonder Boys have a total of five players with 30 or more RBIs and two that have surpassed 40. Duddleston is leading the team in RBIs with 47 while Ranallo is second with 43.
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 6.50 and have struck out 286 batters in 332.1 innings of work.
This past weekend, Tech employed a starting rotation of
John Gray,
Grant Shahan and
Emiliano Mata against East Central. Gray and Mata have both started 11 games while Shahan has now made two starts.
In terms of the bullpen for the Wonder Boys,
Will Horton has made the most relief appearances thus far with 20.
Mason Griffin has six of the team's eight saves for the Wonder Boys. He has appeared in 13 games and has a 3.96 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 18.2 innings of work.
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is
Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 14th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 13 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 380-269 record. He has also had six seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
Overall, Dawson is in his 18th year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. Dawson's combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan stand at 528. He earned the milestone 500
th win in the series opener vs. No. 13-ranked Central Missouri back in February.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA
The Savage Storm enter the weekend series against Tech with a 22-21 overall record and a 13-14 mark in the GAC. SE is coming off a series loss last weekend to Harding where they salvaged the final game of the series. Earlier this week, the Savage Storm played a pair of mid-week games splitting the action with a loss to Washburn and a win against Austin College.
Statistically, the Savage Storm enter the weekend series with Tech hitting .299 as a team (419-for-1,401) with 301 runs scored, 74 doubles, 11 triples and 44 home runs. The leading hitter in terms of average so far is
Damon Burroughs at .393 (53-for-135). Burroughs also leads the team in slugging percentage at .652 thanks to six doubles, seven triples and five home runs. He also leads the team in RBIs with 44.
SE has 14 players who have hit a home run this season with nine leaving yard on multiple occasions. The leading home run hitter is
Reid Rice with eight. Burroughs is fourth on the team in home runs with Seth Morrow (7) and Jake Miller (6) ahead at second and third, respectively.
On the mound, the Savage Storm have a 6.49 team ERA and have struck out 316 batters in 346.2 innings of work.
This past weekend, the Tigers employed a starting rotation of
Cole Canuteson,
Michael Barta, and
Dylan Turner against Harding. Canuteson and Turner have been mainstays in the weekend rotations with each having started at least 10 games. Barta has started six. All three have ERAs over 5.00, but collectively have 139 strikeouts in 147.3 innings of work
Outside of that rotation, the Savage Storm have used 19 other pitchers in various relief roles. Two of those pitchers have made double-digit relief appearances.
Coby Langford and
Brody Logsdon have both made 12 appearances, all in relief to lead the team. As a team, the Savage Storm have registered six saves with Jordan Compton pacing the club with two.
Southeastern Oklahoma is led by
Zach Crabtree, who is in his sixth season with as head coach of the Savage Storm. In his time at SE, Crabtree has amassed a 126-118 record.
