FIRST PITCH
The No. 20-ranked Arkansas Tech baseball team is set to play their fourth Great American Conference series of the season this weekend as they will travel to Arkadelphia to take on Ouachita. Tech cracked the national rankings this past week, thanks, in part, to their series sweep of then-ranked No. 20 Henderson State. The Wonder Boys also have several high-profile wins that have bolstered their resume.

This weekend's series at Ouachita is slated to begin with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon starting at Noon. The finale of the series is scheduled to be played on Sunday starting at 2 p.m. Live coverage for all games in the series can be found at:

According to the best available historical records, the Wonder Boys and Tigers have met 168 times in a series that started in 1912. In terms of the all-time series record, Tech holds a 98-69-1 lead over Ouachita.

The two teams met three times last regular season with all games coming as part of the conference series. That series was won by the Wonder Boys 2-1 after they won the first two games but dropped the finale.

TALKING TECH
The Wonder Boys enters their weekend series at Ouachita with an overall record of 15-5 and are 8-1 in the GAC. Tech is riding a six-game winning streak with their most-recent win coming this past Tuesday at Mississippi College. Prior to that, the Wonder Boys swept Henderson State at home. In that series, Tech won the first two games in a Saturday doubleheader and then came back the following day and then turned in an epic double-digit comeback against the Reddies to secure the sweep.

Overall, the Wonder Boys enter their game against the Tigers hitting .319 as a team (213-for-668) with 195 runs scored, 42 doubles, seven triples and 22 home runs.
Nick Jones currently leads the team in batting average at .415 (22-for-53) and is one of nine players that have scored at least 10 runs this season. A total of three players have scored 20 or more runs with
Cade McBride pacing the team with 26 runs scored.

Keaton Ranallo has been providing the best power production thus far and is leading the team in slugging percentage at .685 and home runs with seven. He is also leading the team in RBIs with 25. Eight other Wonder Boys have hit home runs this season with Duddleston,
Markos Cabranes,
Sam Stephenson and
Logan Schwenke all having multiple homers.

On the RBI front, the Wonder Boys have a total of eight players with 10 or more RBIs and two that have surpassed 20.

On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 6.25 and have struck out 143 batters in 158.1 innings of work.

This past weekend, Tech employed a starting rotation of
John Gray,
Emilano Mata and
Tyler Sardelli against Henderson State. Gray and Mata have both appeared and started five games while Sardelli was making his first start.

In terms of the bullpen for the Wonder Boys,
Will Horton and
Kade Cartwright have made the most relief appearances thus far with nine apiece.
Marshall Brown has logged the most innings in relief with 18.0 to his credit.
Mason Griffin has four of the team's five saves for the Wonder Boys. Pintarich has the other.

Leading the Wonder Boys once more is
Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 14th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 13 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 380-269 record. He has also had six seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.

Overall, Dawson is in his 18th year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. Dawson's combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan stand at 513. He earned the milestone 500
th win in the series opener vs. No. 13-ranked Central Missouri back in February.

SCOUTING OUACHITA
The Tigers enter the series against Tech with a 10-6 overall record and are 5-4 in the GAC. Ouachita is coming off a series win against Arkansas-Monticello in which the Tigers won the first two games, but dropped the finale, 13-0 in seven innings. Ouachita did not play a mid-week game this week.

Statistically, the Tigers enter the series with Tech hitting .279 as a team (145-for-519) with 96 runs scored, 31 doubles, three triples and 12 home runs. The leading hitter in terms of average so far is
Michael Quinones at .386 (22-for-57). Quinones is also leading the team in RBIs with 19. Two others have driven in double-digit runs.

In terms of power numbers, a trio of Tigers are tied for the team-lead in homers with three.

On the mound, the Tigers have a 4.06 team ERA and have struck out 136 batters in 133.0 innings of work.

The starting rotation for the Tigers thus far has been very consistent with Hayden Childers, Cooper Timmons, and Teddy Webb all appearing in and starting five games. Combined, that starting rotation is 8-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 73.2 innings of work.

Outside of those starting arms, the Tigers have used 11 other pitchers in relief roles.
Cameron Marchant has made the most relief appearances with six. As a staff, the Tigers have four relievers with multiple appearances that have ERAs under 3.00.

Ouachita is led by
Luke Howard, who is in his fifth season with as head coach of the Tigers. In his time at the helm of Ouachita, Howard has won 91 games and is coming off his most-successful season with the Tigers as he led them to a 33-24 record in 2022.
