RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech senior quarterback
Taye Gatewood has been named as the latest Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
It is the first GAC weekly award in the career of Gatewood and the first offensive award for the Tech football program since 2018 when Bryan Allen was Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
A native of Fort Smith, Gatewood had a career game in Arkansas Tech's 44-21 win over Northwestern Oklahoma this past Saturday. He was nearly perfect throwing the ball with just one incompletion on 20 attempts against the Rangers.
Overall, Gatewood would throw for a career-high 254 yards and tossed four touchdowns (all in the first half). All four of his TD passes on Saturday against NWOSU were at least 20 yards. The longest was a 61-yard catch and run by
Caleb Tanis late in the second quarter.
