This will be Tech's first postseason bowl appearance since 2017 when they played in the Agent Barry Live United Bowl in Texarkana against Pittsburg State. That year was also the last time that the Wonder Boys finished a season above .500, an achievement accomplished this year as Tech finished the regular season at 7-4 overall.
Their opponents in the Heritage Bowl, West Texas A&M, also finished their regular season at 7-4 overall. The Buffaloes got to that mark with three-straight wins to close out their regular season. In those three games, West Texas out-dueled their opponents in high-scoring affairs as they averaged 51.3 points per game.
More information regarding ATU alumni events planned in Corsicana as well as other bowl game festivities including pep rallies and tailgating will be released in the coming days.
The Heritage Bowl Powered by Riot owns the distinction of being the longest continuous running NCAA Division II bowl game in the country. The game garners attraction from across the country and invites schools from three conferences – the Lone Star (LSC), Great American (GAC), and Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).
