RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech baseball team is back at home this weekend and is set to begin a six-game homestand with a Great American Conference series with Arkansas-Monticello. The series will be played Saturday-Sunday due to forecasted inclement weather around the River Valley over the next couple of days.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO
The Boll Weevils enter play this weekend 5-10 overall and 3-6 in the Great American Conference. They are also coming off a big conference series win at home against then-ranked No. 6 Henderson State. UAM won the first and third games of that series, handing Henderson their first losses of the season in the process.

UAM was scheduled to play a mid-week game at UT-Tyler in advance of their series with Tech, but the game was canceled due to weather.

Offensively, the Boll Weevils are hitting .259 as a team (131-for-506) with 95 runs scored, 25 doubles, two triples and 16 home runs. Entering the weekend, the Boll Weevils have four players hitting .300 or better with Cade Thompson leading the way at .407 (24-for-59).

In terms of power numbers, the Boll Weevils have eight players with a home run. Thompson and Jordan Johnson are tied for the team lead in home runs with four each. Grant Shepherd is next with three and five others have one. Thompson is also pacing the team in RBIs with 20.

On the mound, the Boll Weevils have a 7.48 team ERA and have struck out 115 batters in 128.2 innings of work.

The Boll Weevils have used a weekend rotation of Spencer Johnston, Mason Philley and Derek Potts as that trio have all started four games so far on the mound. They have combined for a 2-6 record with 57 strikeouts in 73.0 innings of work.

Outside of the weekend rotation, eight different pitchers have been used by UAM. Trent Buntin and Jacob McDaniel have appeared in the most games with seven each. Bunting is 1-0 with a 2.63 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 13.2 innings of work. As a team, the Boll Weevils have yet to record a save.

TECH TIDBITS
The Wonder Boys enter play this weekend 9-7 overall and 4-5 in the GAC. They are looking to snap a four-game skid after being swept on the road at No. 8 Southern Arkansas last weekend and falling to Mississippi College in a mid-week road game earlier this week.

Offensively, the Wonder Boys enter play against UAM hitting .285 as a team (145-for-508) with 105 runs scored, 21 doubles, four triples and 21 home runs. Individually, the Wonder Boys have five batters with at least 25 at-bats hitting .300 or better and are currently led by Yadier Medina's .404 average (19-for-47).

In terms of power numbers, the Wonder Boys have eight players with a home run and are led by Josh Detweiler and Shelby Quiggins as they are tied for the team lead with five apiece. Kandon Bennett is next with four home runs. Quiggins also leads the team in RBIs with 13 RBIs. Four other Wonder Boys have driven in at least 10 runs as well.

On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 5.09 and have struck out 141 batters in 129.0 innings of work.
