RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech baseball team is set to jump back into Great American Conference play this weekend as they are at home and will take on East Central in a three-game series.  The series was originally scheduled to be played Friday-Saturday, but due to the winter weather storm that rolled through earlier in the week, the series has been pushed back to Sunday-Monday.
 
SCOUTING EAST CENTRAL
The Tigers enter play 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the GAC after being swept by Harding in their GAC-opening series last weekend.
 
Statistically, the Tigers are hitting .246 as a team (70-for-285) with 47 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples and four home runs. Entering the weekend, the Tigers have two players hitting .300 or better with Mekhi Edwards leading the way at .433 (13-for-30).
 
In terms of power numbers, the Tigers have three players with a home run. Eric Towsley leads the team with two homers. Three Tigers including Edwards and Towsley are tied for the team-lead in RBIs with seven. The other player is Mason Glowacki.
 
On the mound, the Tigers have an 11.01 team ERA and have struck out 70 batters in 76.0 innings of work.
 
A total of 13 pitchers have appeared in a game for the Tigers. Colt Bartling and Bryan Terry have each started three games. Bartling is 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA and has 12 strikeouts in 13.1 innings. Terry is 1-2 with a 13.06 ERA and has 10 strikeouts in 10.1 innings of work.
 
TECH TIDBITS
The Wonder Boys enter play 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the GAC after dropping their GAC-opening series to Southeastern Oklahoma last weekend.
 
Offensively, the Wonder Boys are hitting .299 as a team (80-for-268) with 58 runs scored, 12 doubles, two triples and 10 home runs. Entering the weekend, the Wonder Boys have nine batters with at least 10 at-bats hitting .300 or better and are currently led by Yadier Medina's .435 average (10-for-23).
 
In terms of power numbers, the Wonder Boys are led by Kandon Bennett. He is currently pacing the team in home runs with three.  Medina, Logan Schwenke, Shelby Quiggins and Ty Van Meter each have two home runs early on. Trace Maddux leads the team in RBIs with seven.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 4.91 and have struckout 69 batters in 66.0 innings of work.
 
Patrick Miner and Shane Scott have both started three games and have logged the most innings at 13.0 and 13.1, respectively. Miner is 2-0 with a 4.85 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 13.0 innings. Scott is 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA and has seven strikeouts in 13.1 innings.
 
In relief, the Wonder Boys have notched three saves with Ty Van Meter accounting for two of the saves. He currently has seven strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
