RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Following their home perfect 2-0 week on the road last week against Southeastern and East Central, the Golden Suns now get ready for a pair of matches against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State at home in Tucker Coliseum.
Up first on the back-to-back slate is Southwestern Oklahoma. Last season, Southwestern Oklahoma went 20-8 overall and held a 13-3 record against conference opponents. This season, they are currently 9-8 overall and have a 5-2 conference record.
Leading the offense for the Bulldogs is Lacy Mott with 224 kills on the season. Maicee Morgan has also been helpful on the attack with 243 kills. Pacing the offense for SWOSU is Terez Chavez who has 403 total assists on the year so far. In terms of aces, Morgan leads the Bulldogs with 25.
On defense, Mott leads the team with 199 total digs. Behind Mott is Lauren DeSantiago with 149 total digs, while Morgan has 145. In terms of blocks, Zoey Sparks leads the team with 62 total blocks and Samantha Kuzma follows with 43 blocks on the year.
On the other side of the back-to-back, Arkansas Tech will take on Northwestern Oklahoma State. Last year, NWOSUÂ went 10-20 overall with a 5-11 record in conference play. This year, they are 13-7 overall and have a 5-2 record against conference opponents.
Leading the attack on offense for the Rangers is Addison Wimmer who has picked up 294 kills on the year. Behind her is Tarra Parks with 159 total kills. Pacing the offense for NWOSU is Cameron Lobb with 659 overall assists on the season so far. In terms of aces, Lobb also leads the team with 31.
Defensively, Andrea Coady leads the Rangers with 357 total digs. Behind Coady is Parks with 216 digs and Wimmer with 191. In front of the net, Carmae Jones leads NWOSU with 69 total blocks for the year. Ravyn Burns follows with 63 total blocks.
Moving to the Golden Suns,
Heather Thomas leads the offensive attack with 116 total kills, on a 1.76 kills per set average. Following Thomas is
Maddi Siedenburg with 114 kills on the year while averaging 2.71 kills per set.
Lydia Hale slots in right behind Siedenburg with 96Â kills on the season and
Brianna Merkel has also contributed on the attack with 91 total kills on the season thus far. Pacing the offense is Merkel with 316 assists, while averaging 5.85 assists per set.
Gracie Palmer averages 2.62 assists per set and has set set up 170 total assists. In terms of service aces,
Jamie Myrick leads the team with 28, while
Megan Solberg follows with 22.
Anchoring the Golden Suns on defense is Solberg with 274 digs on the year and is averaging 4.15 digs per set. Myrick has also added plenty of help on defense with 155 total digs on a 2.38 dig per set average. Holding down the front of the net for the Golden Suns is Thomas with seven solo blocks and 43 assisted blocks, for 50 total on the season and is averaging 0.76 blocks per set. The first match of the home stand will be on Thursday against Southwestern Oklahoma State. That match is set for a 6 p.m. first serve on Thursday evening in Tucker Coliseum and will also be Dig Pink Night. Then on Friday, the Golden Suns will take on Northwestern Oklahoma State. The match against the Rangers is set for a 4 p.m. first serve on Friday afternoon also in Tucker Coliseum.
