RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, numerous scenarios were out there that could see the Arkansas Tech baseball team be seeded in this weekend's Great American Conference Tournament anywhere from the top-seed to fourth-place. Once the dust settled on the weekend, the Wonder Boys emerged with a share of the GAC Regular Season Championship and the top-seed in the GAC Tournament.
Â
As the top-seed, the Wonder Boys earned a home game in the opening round of the tournament and will be taking on No. 8-seed Southwestern Oklahoma on Friday, May 14 starting at 6 p.m. out at Baswell Field. Unlike in years past, this year's GAC Tournament has zero room for error for anyone in the field as the entirety of the tournament will be single-elimination.
Â
The Wonder Boys will enter postseason play hitting .337 as a team (450-for-1336) and have a team slugging percentage of .540 and a team on-base percentage of .416. Collectively, the offense has scored 302 runs and hit 93 doubles, 14 triples and 50 home runs.

Josh Detweiler are also long-ball threats as Hafley has nine and Detwiler has eight.

On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a 4.13 team ERA and have registered 349 strikeouts in 320.0 innings pitched. In the rotation, Tech has used the same three starters all season with
Hayes Cox,
Patrick Miner and
Riyan Rodriguez all having made 13 starts so far. That trio has combined for a 19-9 record and 198 strikeouts in 205.0 innings. Miner has the most wins with eight and is currently the team-leader and GAC-leader in strikeouts with 89.
Â
Out of the bullpen, the Wonder Boys have had two relievers appear in the most games in
Mason Griffin (Rogers, Ark.) and
Nick Kovar. Griffin is 2-1 in 12 relief appearances and has 39 strikeouts in 23.1 innings of work (14.4 strikeouts/9inings). Kovar is 1-1 with four saves. In 18 relief appearances, he has a 1.66 ERA and has 19 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.
