Wonder Boys football announces dates for summer camps

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech football team and head coach Kyle Shipp have set the dates and times for their upcoming 2021 summer camps that will be offered at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.

The program will be conducting five camp dates over June and July with the first being a youth camp for grades 1-8 and the final four being prospect camps for high school upperclassmen and current junior college athletes.

Online registration for the camps being offered can be found at www.wonderboyfootballcamps.com

ATU Youth Football Camp
The ATU Youth Football Camp is scheduled for Wednesday, June 2 and will run from 9 a.m. – Noon with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. This camp will be run by the Arkansas Tech football coaching staff and current Wonder Boy football players. The ATU Youth Football Camp is also non-contact and provides for a fun learning experience for all campers. Age-appropriate drills are taught in addition to life skills such as respect, sportsmanship and teamwork. Participants will be grouped based on age.

The camp will take place at the Hull Football Building and at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field. Campers are asked to bring a t-shirt, athletic shorts, athletic socks and athletic shoes. Campers will not need helmets, pads or footballs.

The cost of the camp is $50 and that fee includes a t-shirt and a snack. Additionally, no walk-ups will be accepted the day of the camp.

Prospect Camps
The 2021 ATU Football Prospect Camps will feature four dates with two coming in June (3rd & 4th) and two in July (23rd & 24th). Each date will feature two sessions with one session focused on the trenches with offensive linemen and defensive linemen and the other session featuring the skill positions.

The ATU Football Prospect Camps, which are led by ATU Football coaching staff, are skill-teaching camps that are designed to give each athlete a foundation in football fundamentals and position-specific drills. Each player will receive hands-on instruction as he participates in drills and practice.

The OL/DL sessions will be padded (helmet and shoulder pads). For the padded sessions, campers are asked to bring a t-shirt, athletic shorts, athletic socks, athletic shoes, cleats, helmets and shoulder pads.
That equipment can be fitted and rented for an additional fee on site.

The Skill Position sessions will be non-padded. For the non-padded sessions, campers are asked to bring a t-shirt, athletic shorts, athletic socks, athletic shoes and cleats. No helmets, pads or footballs are needed.

On each camp date, Session #1 will begin at 10 a.m. and run through 11:30 a.m. with check-in running from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Session #2 will begin at 2 p.m. and run through 3:30 p.m. with check-in running from 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.

The cost of the prospect camp is $50 and that fee includes a t-shirt, secondary insurance and quality fundamental instruction. Additionally, no walk-ups will be accepted the day of the camp.

The camp will take place at the Hull Football Building and at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.
