RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech baseball team is set to make its final road trip of the regular season this weekend as they will travel to Weatherford, Okla. to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State in a three-game Great American Conference series starting on Saturday, April 17.

The series was originally scheduled to be played Friday-Saturday, but rain forecasts and cooler weather trends prompted a shift to a Saturday-Sunday schedule.

The Wonder Boys will enter the weekend slate at 20-8 overall and atop the GAC standings at 17-4. Southwestern Oklahoma will enter play with a 15-10 overall record and a 12-9 mark in the GAC, which is currently a tie for fifth-place in the league standings.

The Wonder Boys have also won six-straight games that have included sweeps of Ouachita and Henderson State. The Bulldogs are coming in having won their last game played, a mid-week game at Cameron. In their last conference weekend, SWOSU dropped the final two game of the series at Southeastern Oklahoma but scored at least seven runs in each of those games. Dating back to the beginning of April, the Bulldogs have won six of eight.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys are among the top offensive teams in the GAC and are hitting .339 as a team (323-for-954) heading into the weekend. In addition to their team batting average, the Wonder Boys have a .423 team on-base percentage and a .527 team slugging percentage. Collectively, they have scored 230 runs, doubled 62 times, tripled 11 times and homered 32 times.

All but two of their lineup regulars are hitting over .300 this season with
Josh Detweiler leading the way at .389 (37-for-95). Detweiler is also among the team leaders in home runs (6), runs scored (33) and RBIs (23). The current team leader in home runs is
Evan Hafley with seven and the top RBI man is
Jonathon Arrieta with 31.

On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 3.78 and have struck out 261 batters in 226.0 innings of work. They have used the same three arms in their weekend rotation with
Hayes Cox,
Patrick Miner and
Riyan Rodriguez all starting nine games.

All three have ERAs under 4.35 with Miner and Rodriguez with matching 3.54 ERAs. Miner is also tied with Cox for the team lead in wins as each are 6-1. Collectively, the trio of starters is 15-5 with a 3.80 ERA and 142 strikeouts in 142.0 innings of work.

For the Bulldogs, they currently have a .335 team batting average (283-for-846) and are getting on base at a .418 clip while also slugging .528. Collectively they have hit 59 doubles, nine triples and 29 home runs.

Similar to the Wonder Boys, seven lineup regulars are hitting over .300 with Drew White leading the way with a .418 (38-for-91) average. White, who has 10 doubles and is tied for the second-most home runs with five, is the team leader in RBIs with 28. The top home run hitter thus far is Keyshaun Smith with eight.

On the mound, the Bulldogs have a 5.44 team ERA and have struck out 214 batters in 197.0 innings of work. Vance Ferraro, Matt Hopkins and Nate Postlethwait have all started at least five games. Postlethwait is leading the team in wins with five and in strikeouts with 45. Ferraro has the lowest ERA among starters with a 4.75 ERA.
