WONDER BOYS OPEN SEASON IN HOUSTON

HOUSTON, Texas – Arkansas Tech baseball will open the 2020 season this weekend at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, as they compete in the Houston Winter Invitational. After graduating several seniors, the Wonder Boys will have multiple players vying for starting positions at the start of the season.
 
The Wonder Boys will play three games, starting at 1:30 p.m. against Millersville on Friday, Jan. 31.
 
Tech will follow its first game of the season with a Saturday game against Colorado School of Mines at 10 a.m. and finish the tournament with a 10 a.m. contest against Flagler. All three games will be played at the Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros. Live statistics are available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
 
The Wonder Boys are coming off a 2019 season, finishing with a 29-23 overall record and a 20-12 Great American Conference record. Tech finished third in the GAC regular season, before going 1-2 in the conference tournament.
 
Arkansas Tech returns senior third baseman, Tristan Thomas, who was an All-Region first team selection, junior pitcher Hayes Cox, who was an All-GAC honorable mention as a freshman. Thomas hit .401 last season with a team high 49 runs batted in and was third on the team with six homeruns. Cox has a 15-8 record as a starter in 28 appearances, while recording a 4.14 ERA in 163 innings of work.
