SUNS MOVE UP ONE POSITION IN CENTRAL REGION POLL

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The No. 18 Arkansas Tech Golden Suns softball team has moved up one position in the second Central Region poll, checking in this week in the No. 4 position.

The top eight teams in the region, including automatic bids issued to the winners of the Great American Conference, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) tournaments, will advance to the two regional sites, with the winners of each site advancing to a super regional competition. Last Monday's sweep of Southern Arkansas was factored into this week's poll.

The Golden Suns are one of two Great American Conference teams ranked in the poll.

Nationally top-ranked Central Oklahoma (MIAA) occupies the top position, with Winona State (NSIC) and Augustana (NSIC) checking in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Southern Arkansas (GAC) moves to No. 5, while Missouri Western (MIAA) and Minnesota Duluth (NSIC) follow at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. Central Missouri (MIAA), St. Cloud State (NSIC), and Minnesota State (NSIC) round out the poll.

The Golden Suns return to action this Friday and Saturday, hosting Ouachita Baptist at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
