RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (7-6, 1-1 Great American Conference) looks to get back on the winning path when it returns to action on Thursday night, hosting Ouachita Baptist in a 6 p.m. matchup at Tucker Coliseum.
Live video and statistics will be available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
The Golden Suns are coming off a four-set loss at Harding, where Arkansas Tech captured the opening set but Harding closed out the match with three straight set wins to claim the victory. Offensively, the trio of
Hunter Eshnaur,
Allie Anderson, and
Mackenzie Eford have provided the bulk of Tech's offensive firepower, averaging over two kills per set. Freshman
Tymber Riley has stepped in and has also provided some punch, as Riley and Eford are both hitting over .200 for the season. Setter
Amanda Milnick is in the midst of another outstanding campaign, averaging 8.64 assists per set, while defensively,
Meredith Darnell has anchored the back line with her 3.93 digs per set average, and
Greer Rogers has been solid up front with a 0.95 blocks per set average.Â
Ouachita Baptist (11-3, 2-0) is off to a great start under first-year head coach Allison Frizzell-Kizer. After a stellar campaign last season, Adrianna Nolly leads the OBU offense with a 3.43 kills per set average and a .346 hitting percentage - both second in the GAC, while setter Stormi Leonard leads the GAC with her 9.94 assists per set average. However, it is the Tigers' defense that has stifled opposing offenses, allowing a league-low .152 hitting percentage. Julianna Mack anchors the back line with her 4.20 digs per set average, while Nolly is tied for third in the GAC with her 1.04 blocks per set average.Â
The last time these two teams met at Tucker Coliseum was on November 9, 2017, when the Golden Suns ultimately prevailed in a five-set classic. Tech took the opening set 25-21 before OBU claimed a match lead with 25-19 and 25-22 wins in sets two and three, before Arkansas Tech was able to rally to tie the match with a 25-18 win in set four. Tech controlled the tempo in the fifth set to close out the 15-12 win and improve to 32-0 on the season.
