WONDER BOYS TRAVEL TO DURANT FOR WEEKEND SERIES

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech baseball will look for its seventh consecutive conference series victory this weekend, as the Wonder Boys travel to Durant, Okla. for a three-game series with Southeastern Oklahoma State. Play begins in Durant with a nine-inning game on Sunday, April 8, at 3 p.m., followed by a Monday doubleheader set for 12 p.m.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southeastern Oklahoma leads the all-times series, 17-11. However, Tech took two of the three games last season and have won three of the last five against the Savage Storm.
 
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (21-12, 14-7 GAC) is coming off a 9-6 loss to No. 25 Southern Arkansas. Prior to that loss, Tech had a four-game win streak, including a three-game sweep over East Central last weekend. The Wonder Boys currently sit in fourth in the Great American Conference standings, three games behind No. 25 Southern Arkansas.
 
The Wonder Boys have scored at least six runs in five consecutive games. In the series sweep of East Central, Tech put up 41 runs, the most runs scored by the Wonder Boys in a three-game span since 2011. In those three games Tech has hit .406 as a team, led by Britt Stroth's .667 average and is quickly followed by Kyle Gibbs and Riley Hickerson who each tallied a .500 batting averages. Over the last five games, both Stroth and Hickerson have notch a team-high 12 hits, while Hickerson has recorded a team-high ten RBIs. Hickerson is batting .373 for the year which ranks as the eighth-best in the GAC, his 37 RBIs ranks as the third-best in the conference, and his 47 hits is tied for the fourth-best.
 
Hayes Cox leads the Tech pitching staff and is one of the first ten pitchers in the conference to reach five wins. Cox also leads the team and is tied for sixth in the GAC with a 3.38 ERA. Michael Mueller has logged the most innings for the Wonder Boys as he has pitched 57.1 innings, the third most in the conference. Mueller is averaging 9.89 strikeouts per nine innings and his 63 strikeouts thus far this season rank as the third most in the conference.
 
SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
After winning four-straight games, Southeastern Oklahoma State (15-19, 10-11 GAC) has lost three of its last four games and is coming off a series with Harding last weekend where the Bison took two of the three games. The Storm sits in seventh in the GAC standings.
 
The Savage Storm is hitting .289 as a team this season, while Southeastern ranks ninth in the conference with a .296 opponent batting average. Brett Akins paces the Storm with a .331 batting average, while Travis Spinney leads the team with five home runs, 12 doubles and 28 RBIs. Cody Nitson leads Southeastern's starting pitchers with a 4.31 ERA in 56.1 innings this season. Bryce Deatherage and Greg Hubbell are the only other pitchers for the Storm to have pitcher over 40.0 innings. Deatherage has registered a 3-2 record with a 4.93 ERA in 45.2 innings, while Hubbell has 3-2 record with a 6.38 ERA in 42.1 innings.
