WONDER BOYS RETURN HOME TO FACE WEEVILS

Week Six Game Notes - Federal Programs Edition

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - Sunny skies and warm weather is forecast for the 75th all-time meeting between the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football team (2-3) and the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils (1-4), scheduled to be played on Saturday, October 6 at the friendly confines of Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., with live audio, video, and statistics available at www.arkansastechsports.com. The game will be broadcast live locally on KCJC-FM (102.3) in Russellville.

Party at the Plaza, the pre-game tailgating celebration, will begin at 4 p.m.

The Wonder Boys are coming off a tough 24-7 setback at Ouachita Baptist that was a far closer contest than the score would indicate. Tech outgained OBU and the defense held the Tigers to under 400 yards of offense, but OBU took advantage of field position and late turnovers to pull away with the win.

UAM, meanwhile, enters the game with a 1-4 record having dropped three straight. The Weevils are coming off a 47-21 setback against Harding at home last weekend.

Wonder Boys running back Bryan Allen continues his ascent through the Arkansas Tech and Great American Conference rushing charts. The senior is third in both record books and enters Saturday's game with 3,144 career rushing yards, putting him 459 yards behind Larry Brown (1968-71) for first all-time at Tech and 266 yards behind Eddie Meador (1955-58) for second all-time at Tech.

While it would take a game reminiscent of his freshman performance against Ouachita Baptist, where he racked up a career-best 275 yards, to move past Meador for second all-time, the threshold to climb in the GAC record books is far less. He enters the game 309 yards behind Southeastern Oklahoma's Devlon Wortham (2013-16) for the all-time GAC mark, and is just 15 yards behind Harding's Romo Westbrook (2011-14) for second in league history.
