RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Following an 8-4 win over the Muleriders on Tuesday, Arkansas Tech will host No. 2 Southern Arkansas for a three-game series this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Sunday, April 23, at 1 p.m. The series will conclude with a nine-inning game set for 1 p.m. on Monday.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Southern Arkansas holds a 100-57 advantage in the all-time series, dating back to the first game in 1914 that ended in a 7-0 victory for Arkansas Tech. SAU won two of three games last season, but the Wonder Boys stole a win from the Muleriders in Magnolia on Tuesday.
SCOUTING THE WONDER BOYS
Arkansas Tech (27-16, 20-7 GAC) currently is tied for second in the GAC standings with Arkansas-Monticello, five games behind first-place Southern Arkansas. The Wonder Boys have clinched a spot in the 2017 GAC Baseball Tournament Championships and will have home-field advantage for the opening round.
The Wonder Boys rank fourth in the GAC with a .281 team batting average this season, led by
Dylan McDearmon's .363 average. In the last 10 games, Tech has hit .296 as a team and McDearmon has posted a .429 batting average.
Cody Wescott has five home runs in his last 10 games and is hitting .353 over the same span. McDearmon leads the GAC with 15 doubles this season, while
Zach Klockowski ranks third with 35 runs batted in and second with eight home runs.
Kyle Wilson leads Tech's starting pitchers with a 2.63 earned-run average in 65.0 innings this season. Wilson ranks fifth in the GAC in ERA and is the only player in the conference with at least six wins and zero losses. Wilson earned GAC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season after pitching a complete-game, two-hit shutout in Tech's 2-0 win over UAM last weekend.
Quentin Bowling leads the Wonder Boys with a 1.44 ERA in 25.0 innings, and
Jesse Harbin ranks second in the GAC with six saves.
SCOUTING THE MULERIDERS
Southern Arkansas (25-2, 33-8 GAC) suffered just its second home loss of the season to the Wonder Boys on Tuesday. The loss snapped a seven-game win streak for SAU. The Muleriders are atop the GAC standings and received one first-place vote in the latest NCBWA Division II Top 25 Poll.
The Muleriders lead the GAC in batting average (.314), slugging percentage (.496) and home runs (42). Trevor Rucker leads SAU and ranks first in the GAC with a .410 batting average. Rucker also leads the conference in slugging, on-base percentage, runs scored and home runs. Jacob Richardson is hitting .366 this season and leads the Muleriders with 37 runs batted in.
SAU's 3.88 earned-run average this season currently ranks second in the GAC. Dalton Algiene has a 10-1 record in 11 appearances this season, and he leads the conference with a 1.98 earned-run average. Kenneth Tabor has a 4.05 ERA and 8-1 record in 66.2 innings, while Connor Wells has posted a 5.04 ERA in 50.0 innings. Makenzy Larsen paces SAU's bullpen with a 0.94 earned-run average and six saves.
