TECH VOLLEYBALL TO COMPETE IN HSU/OBU VOLLEYBALL INVITATIONAL

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech volleyball will continue the 2016 regular season this weekend, as the Golden Suns travel to Arkadelphia for a four-game tournament hosted by Henderson State. Tech begins play on Friday morning and finishes on Saturday afternoon.

Arkansas Tech (2-2) opens the HSU/OBU Volleyball Invitational with Drury on Friday, Sept. 9, at 9 a.m. Drury is coming off a 2-2 finish at the Washburn Tournament last weekend, and the Panthers are led in kills, assists and service aces by Brooke Antenen. In four games this season, Drury has hit .230, compared to Tech's .189 attack percentage. The Golden Suns are 5-9 all-time against Drury.

At 2 p.m. on Friday, the Golden Suns take on Northern State, who is currently ranked 11th in the Division II AVCA Coaches Poll. The Wolves opened their 2016 season with a 3-2 victory over No. 5 Western Washington but were later defeated, 3-0, by Concordia-St. Paul, the top-ranked team in Division II. Both matches on Friday will be played in Henderson's Duke Wells Center. Arkansas Tech has taken on Northern State just once in program history, in which the Golden Suns lost 3-1 in 2013.

On Saturday, Tech will begin play against Lindenwood at 9 a.m. in Henderson's Dunn Recreation Center. The Lady Lions (3-1) posted a three-match win streak to start the season, but dropped their final game of the Lindenwood Invitational to the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In four games, Lindenwood has lost the first set three times but has come back to win the second and third set three times, as well. Tech is 5-3 all-time against the Lady Lions, with the Golden Suns winning the last contest, 3-1, in 2013.

The final contest of the invitational is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Dunn Recreation Center. Tech takes on Pittsburg State, who left the Washburn Invitational last weekend with four losses. The Gorillas have posted an attack percentage of .145 and are allowing opponents to hit .226. The Golden Suns have won nine of the 15 matches all-time against Pittsburg State, the last coming in 2015 when Tech defeated the Gorillas 3-1.

Hunter Eshnaur currently leads the Golden Suns in points (69.5), kills (50) and aces (15). McCall Wilkins follows with 37 kills and 11 total blocks in four matches. Lauren Rodemers boasts a team-high .432 attack percentage, while also leading the team with 12 total blocks. Sarah Rosinke and Amanda Milnick hold down the setter position, recording 81 assists and 78 assists, respectively. Madison Nagel has 71 digs this season, 25 more than any other player.
