RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys baseball team (16-21, 8-13 Great American Conference) hit the road this weekend for a big conference series against Southern Arkansas (22-12, 13-8 GAC).

The Wonder Boys went 2-2 this past week, taking one out of three games in their home series against Arkansas-Monticello (22-8, 14-4 GAC) and picked up a midweek non-conference road win over Ouachita Baptist (10-23, 6-15 GAC).

Josh Watkins led the Wonder Boys bats in their series against Arkansas-Monticello, going 3-for-9 with a pair of home runs, seven RBIs, and two runs scored.

Trent Armstrong won his third game in a row in the series finale with the Boll Weevils. Armstrong pitched a complete seven-inning game, giving up just one earned run on nine hits with no walks and struck out eight.

In the Wonder Boys win over Ouachita, Watkins and
Lonnie Hawkins recorded four of the Wonder Boys five hits for the game. Watkins went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Hawkins went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Geofferey Birkemeier picked up his fourth win of the season in relief, giving up no runs, no walks, and struck out one in his inning of relief.
Ryan Vruggink pitched 2.1 strong innings in relief, giving up just one hit and struck out four, while
Jesse Harbin picked up his eighth save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
The series opener against the Muleriders is slated for Friday, April 8 with a 6 p.m. first pitch. The Saturday doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
