TECH vs. OBU GAME NOTES
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football team will continue one of its toughest stretches of the season this coming Saturday, when the Wonder Boys face off against Ouachita Baptist University.
Kickoff from Cliff Harris Stadium is set for 1 p.m., with the game set to be carried live on KCJC (102.3-FM) in Russellville. Live video, audio, and statistics are available at www.arkansastechsports.com.Â
Tech's tough defense will be tested by a prolific Ouachita offense, a unit which has posted the highest offensive yardage total in the Great American Conference this season. The Wonder Boys (2-3) will face the tall task of containing two of the top offensive threats in the Great American Conference in both Austin Warford and Kris Oliver. The two have combined to average over 200 yards per game.Â
The Wonder Boys were up to the task of stopping the run last week against Henderson, holding one of the league's top running offenses in Henderson State to just 43 yards on the ground.Â
Tech will be looking to pick up back-to-back wins over Ouachita for the first time since the 2006-07 seasons. The Wonder Boys topped OBU 30-12 last season in Russellville, snapping a four-game skid to the Tigers, and will look to win a game in Arkadelphia for the first time since 2006 (the two teams did not play in 2008, 2009, and 2011).Â
After Saturday's road contest, Tech returns to Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field for the penultimate home game of the 2016 season against East Central on October 15. The Wonder Boys go on the road once more before the home finale, a combined Homecoming/Senior Day affair on Oct. 29 against Northwestern Oklahoma.
