RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. —
Bohdana Sardak and
Olga Leyshyna cruised to an 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles position over Annie Shannon and Amanda Korinihona,
Tamara Bell and
Camila Roca took a 7-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Sara Griffin and Hannah Watson, and
Laura Sanchez and
Vandella Suico took a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles over Kirsten Pierce and Maddie McJunkins to lead the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns tennis team (7-2) to an 8-1 win over Henderson State on Tuesday at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.
Henderson State picked up its lone point at the No. 1 singles position, as Shannon topped Bell 7-6 (8), 4-6, 10-7. Roca and Watson dueled at the No. 5 spot, but Roca came out victorious after a 1-6, 6-4, 15-13 matchup.
Leyshyna, Sanchez, and Suico were straight-set winners as Leyshyna downed Kornihona 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 singles spot, Sanchez was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Pierce at No. 4 singles, and Suico downed Tyler Reaves 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
Sardak had a 5-0 lead over Griffin in the opening set at No. 2 singles before Reaves was forced to retire due to injury.
The Golden Suns return to action on Thursday, March 19 at Ouachita Baptist.
