TECH WIN STREAK AT 20 AS GOLDEN SUNS ADVANCE TO GAC TITLE MATCH

Box Score HOT SPRINGS, Ark.Kaylee Konsella had a 17-kill night, Madison Nagel turned in a 29-dig performance, while Sierra Nighswonger dished out 49 assists as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns volleyball team (28-5) won its 20th straight contest downing Harding (20-9) 3-1 in the semifinals of the Great American Conference championship tournament.

Arkansas Tech will play Southern Nazarene in the championship final on Saturday at 2 p.m.

"For the fourth year in a row, we're heading into the finals of the GAC tournament," said Golden Suns head coach Kristy Bayer. "Any time Tech and Harding play each other, regardless of whether it's the regular season or postseason, it's going to be an exciting match. For the third time this year that proved to be accurate. I was really proud of the way we played, especially in pressure situations. Kaylee Konsella led us offensively and did a great job terminating. (Madison) Nagel had some amazing digs and was all over the floor."

The Golden Suns won the opening set 25-18. Harding took a 25-21 decision in the second set, but Arkansas Tech came back with 25-21 and 25-23 wins in the third and fourth sets to seal the match victory. The match saw 23 ties and nine lead changes.

The Golden Suns, led by Katie Huff, turned in an 11-block performance in the win. Huff had one solo and six assisted blocks to go along with a 13-kill performance where she hit .364. The junior also turned in five digs. "The last two matches we have done some of the best blocking we've had all year," said Bayer. "We've picked the right time to peak in that area."

Senior Emily Todd had a solid offensive performance, turning in a 11-kill effort, while McCall Wilkins was stellar, hitting .500 with 11 kills and three assisted blocks.
Todd and Kaci Jackson also added 14 digs in the win.

The Golden Suns outhit Harding .241 to .183, hitting for a match-high .324 in the opening set. Nighswonger, Konsella, and Nagel had two service aces apiece.

The top-seeded Golden Suns return to the conference title match for the fourth consecutive season. Tech captured tournament championships in the 2011 and 2013 seasons.|
