Arnold wins at No. 4 singles; Golden Suns battle tough against No. 50-ranked Central Oklahoma

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's tennis team made its home debut on Friday and faced a tough opponent in No. 50-ranked Central Oklahoma. The Golden Suns were valiant in their match with the Bronchos, but ultimately fell 6-1.

The one point for the Golden Suns in the match came at flight four singles where Rebecca Arnold won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

After picking up just one game across all three doubles matches, the Golden Suns dug in during singles action and took two of those matches to a third set. Those occurred at flights two and six.

At flight two, Monica Balau bounced back from a 1-6 loss in the first set with a 6-4 win in set two. In the third set, however, Balau fell to No. 54-ranked individual, Pete Komada, 6-2.

In flight six, Nayara Alvarez took the early lead with a 6-3 win in the first set, but was upended in set two, 0-6. She would go on to fall in the third set, 4-6.

The Golden Suns are now preparing for a second-straight match at home as they are scheduled to host Missouri Western on Sunday, March 15 starting at Noon.
