WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Arkansas Tech baseball team wrapped up their four-game series on the road at No. 2 Central Missouri on Sunday afternoon with a 10-4 loss.
UCM took control of the game early as they stuck for eight runs on four hits in the bottom of the second. The Wonder Boys got one of the runs back in their next trip to the plate in the top of the third.
The Wonder Boys would load the bases with no out outs after
Jackson Crain reached base and advanced to second on a throwing error by UCM's first baseman to lead off the inning.
Drew Vega was then hit by a pitch followed by a single from
Tyler Sardelli.
UCM was on the brink of getting out of the inning unscathed after consecutive strikeouts, but
Levi Martin drew a walk to force home Crain for the run.
The second run of the game for the Wonder Boys scored in the top of the fifth on a RBI single from
Weston Johnston. After two quick outs, that inning was extended on a double from Martin and
Zack Burrow reaching on an error by the Mules' third baseman.
In the bottom of the frame, UCM scored their final two runs, both of which were unearned.
Tech then came back and answered those two runs with two of their own in the top of the sixth.
Tommy Caya and Crain were hit-by-a-pitch consecutively to start the inning. Both then advanced to second and third, respectively on a wild pitch. Vega then singled through the right side to drive in Caya and Crain for the final runs of the game for Tech.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare for a road non-conference game at Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday, February 10. First-pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
