LEADING OFF
The Arkansas Tech baseball team is back at home after a weekend away and will take on Harding in a non-conference game on Tuesday, February 24.
 
The game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. from Baswell Field.
 
Historically, the Wonder Boys and Bisons have met 168 times before their clash on Tuesday. Tech holds a 99-69 lead in the series.
 
TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enters the midweek game 7-8 overall. They are coming off a three-game series sweep at Northwestern Oklahoma that pushed their conference record to 5-1.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys are hitting .241 as a team (113-for-468) with 77 runs scored, 15 doubles, a triple and nine home runs. Weston Johnston currently leads the team in batting average at .370 (17-for-46). Kirby Jenkins had been the power threat for the Wonder Boys as he leads the team with a .660 slugging percentage thanks to three doubles, a triple and four home runs. Jenkins leads the team in RBIs with 20 and also leads the team in runs scored with 14.
 
On the mound, the Wonder Boys have a team ERA of 6.04 and have struck out 85 batters in 123.2 innings of work.
 
Cole Dickson, Creighton Jacobitz and Daniel Hutchison all made starts over Tech's most-recent weekend at Northwestern Oklahoma and likely will not see action against Harding in the midweek game.
 
Derek Rockett started the most-recent midweek game and went 4.0 innings with three runs allowed, one walk and four strikeouts against Southern Arkansas. Zach Moss has also started a midweek game and pitched 3.0 innings with one run allowed, three walks and two strikeouts.
 
Leading the Wonder Boys once more is Dave Dawson. The all-time winningest coach in Tech Baseball history, Dawson enters his 17th year in the dugout for the Wonder Boys. In his previous 16 seasons, Dawson has guided amassed a 482-334 record. He has also had nine seasons with 30 or more wins which includes the 2014 season in which he led the team a program-record 44 wins and hosting rights for that year's Central Region Tournament.
 
Overall, Dawson is in his 21st year as a head baseball coach at the collegiate level as he spent four years as head coach at Kansas Wesleyan and totaled 118 wins. His combined win total at Tech and Kansas Wesleyan have him with a career record of 607-433.
 
SCOUTING HARDING
Harding enters the midweek game at Tech 8-3 overall. They are coming off a series win on the road at Southwestern Oklahoma. After losing the first game on a walk-off, the Bisons won the final two games of the series, 7-2 and 7-3.
 
Offensively, the Bisons are hitting .251 as a team (91-for-362) with 74 runs scored, 17 doubles, four triples and eight home runs. They are led in hitting by Logan Lacey at .326 (14-for-43). Cooper Newsom has been the power threat for the Bisons as he leads the team in slugging percentage at .700 thanks to three doubles and four home runs. Newsom also leads the team in RBIs with 16. Collin Helms leads the team in runs scored with 14.
 
On the mound, the Bisons have a 4.75 team ERA and have struck out 70 batters in 91.0 innings of work.
 
The Bisons used a weekend rotation of Kyle Lane, Merritt Jay and Ryan Romolo in their weekend series against Southwestern Oklahoma. Those three figure to not see action against Tech on Tuesday. Austin Kelly made the start in the Bisons' lone midweek game thus far this season. He pitched 2.2 innings with three runs allowed, one walk and two strikeouts against Ouachita Baptist.
 
The Bisons are led by Dr. Patrick McGaha, who is in his 21st season at his alma mater, Harding and his 25th overall. In his time at Harding, McGaha is 591-434. Overall, he is 710-530-1
