DURANT, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team fought back from a 12-point first-half deficit to pull within two points heading into halftime but were unable to surpass Southeastern Oklahoma on the road on Thursday night, falling by a score of 61-47.
The Savage Storm got out to a quick 7-0 lead by the 17:42 mark of the first half. They would go on to push their lead out as high as 12 points on a couple of occasions in the opening stanza. The second of those instances came at the 7:12 mark as Southeastern was up 23-11.
The Wonder Boys would go on to hold the Savage Storm scoreless over the rest of the first half and clawed back on the offensive end, going into the locker room trailing by just two points, 23-21.
That over seven-minute scoring drought to close out the first half by Southeastern was snapped on the opening possession of the second half as they hit a three-pointer. The Wonder Boys answered right back with a bucket on their first trip down the floor in the first half, making it a one-possession game again, but that would be as close as the Wonder Boys would get as Southeastern began to create separation.
By the 14:28 mark, the Savage Storm had pushed their lead back out to double digits and maintained that gap the rest of the way out.
The Wonder Boys were led in scoring by
Aiden Underdown and
Connor Davis. Both had 12 points coming off the bench. Underdown was 6-of-9 overall from the floor and added nine rebounds. Davis was 5-of-11 overall and 2-of-6 from three-point range.
Tech will now look to get back in the win column on Saturday as they remain on the road and will take on East Central. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
