TIPPING OFF
Four days after shaking off some rust from the Christmas break with an exhibition game at Arkansas State, the Arkansas Tech men's basketball team resumes their regular season schedule at home against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
 
This will be the 186th meeting all-time between Tech and Ouachita Baptist. The series began in 1926 and the two have played regularly since as conference opponents. Overall, Ouachita leads the series 94-91.
 
Tip-off for is scheduled for 3 p.m. from Tucker Coliseum on the campus of Arkansas Tech.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enter the game against Ouachita Baptist at 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the Great American Conference. They have lost three-straight games. Their most-recent action was an exhibition game at Arkansas State this past Tuesday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 71.8 ppg and rank 10th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank seventh in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 71.1 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .440 (280-of-636). Their opponents are shooting at a .417 mark (264-of-633) to rank fourth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .335 (88-of-263) to rank sixth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .285 (71-of-249) to rank second. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .714 as a team (142-of-199) to rank fifth.
 
Individually, the Wonder Boys have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by David Elliott IV and his 13.4 ppg. Sam Bradford is next in scoring and rounds out double-figure scoring at 12.5 ppg.
 
Devin Foster is leading the team in rebounding and is averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Elliott IV leads the team and is averaging 3.2 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by Elliott IV at 1.5 steals per game and in blocks by Underdown at 0.9 blocks per game.
 
The Wonder Boys are coached by Mark Downey, who is in his sixth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.
 
In his time at Tech, which is now in its 10th season overall, Downey has amassed a 151-118 record. Overall, Downey is in his 19th season as a head coach and has career record of 317-224.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Ouachita Baptist is 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the GAC. The Tigers are on a five-game winning streak, but will be playing just their third true road game of the season when they play at Tech.
 
Statistically, the Tigers average 77.6 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Tigers rank first in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 59.0 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Tigers are third in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .481 (317-of-659) and allow their opponents to post a .368 mark (220-of-598) to rank first.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Tigers shoot at a clip of .359 (84-of-234) to rank first in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .261 (64-of-245) to rank first. From the free throw line, the Tigers shoot .687 as a team (136-of-198) to rank 10th.
 
Individually, the Tigers have four players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Devon Hancock and his 16.0 ppg. Christian Parks is next at 10.6 ppg followed by Crew Flowers at 10.5 ppg. Jaxon Conley rounds out double-figure scoring at 10.3 pgg.
 
Parks is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.5 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, PJ Neal leads the team and is averaging 3.5 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Tigers are led in steals by Conley at 3.2 steals per game and in blocks by Parks at 2.6 blocks per game.
 
The Tigers are coached by Dennis Nutt, who is in his 15th season at Ouachita Baptist and his 21st overall. In his time at Ouachita, Nutt is 196-197 and is 268-293 overall.
