TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team is set to begin a pivotal stretch of games over the next two weeks and have the fortune of playing them at home. Up first is a pair of games this weekend, starting first with a Thursday night game against East Central and then a Saturday afternoon affair against Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
This will be the 45th meeting all-time between Tech and East Central. The series began in 1957 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2012. Tech currently holds a 23-21 record in the series.
 
Against Southeastern Oklahoma, this will be the 43rd meeting all-time between Tech and Southeastern. The series began in 1949 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2012. Tech currently holds a 23-19 record in the series.
 
Tip-off for the East Central game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 15 while the Southeastern game will have a 3 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, January 17.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys enter the weekend of action at 4-10 overall and 2-6 in the Great American Conference. They have lost six-straight games and are most-recently coming off a 62-39 loss on the road at No. 7 Southern Nazarene.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 68.5 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank sixth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 70.5 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are 11th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .427 (337-of-790). Their opponents are shooting at a .412 mark (332-of-806) to rank third.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .326 (107-of-328) to rank sixth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .282 (91-of-323) to rank second. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .724 as a team (178-of-246) to rank sixth.
 
Individually, the Wonder Boys have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by David Elliott IV and his 13.1 ppg. Sam Bradford is next in scoring and rounds out double-figure scoring at 10.9 ppg.
 
Devin Foster is leading the team in rebounding and is averaging 5.6 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Elliott IV leads the team and is averaging 3.0 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by Elliott IV at 1.7 steals per game and in blocks by Underdown at 0.9 blocks per game.
 
The Wonder Boys are coached by Mark Downey, who is in his sixth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.
 
In his time at Tech, which is now in its 10th season overall, Downey has amassed a 151-121 record. Overall, Downey is in his 19th season as a head coach and has career record of 317-227.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
East Central enters the weekend 7-7 overall and 2-6 in the GAC. The Tigers have lost two-straight games with both coming at home last weekend. Their most-recent game was a 78-74 loss to Southern Arkansas this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Tigers average 77.0 ppg and rank fourth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Tigers rank seventh in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 70.7 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Tigers are third in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .472 (374-of-792) and allow their opponents to post a .457 mark (351-of-768) to rank ninth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Tigers shoot at a clip of .343 (112-of-327) to rank third in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .306 (74-of-242) to rank sixth. From the free throw line, the Tigers shoot .715 as a team (216-of-302) to rank seventh.
 
Individually, the Tigers have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Rustin Coffey and his 12.9 ppg. Brandon Mann is next at 10.9 ppg. Jaden Miller rounds out double-figure scoring at 10.8 pgg.
 
Kyler Mann is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.4 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Miller leads the team and is averaging 8.0 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Tigers are led in steals by K. Mann at 2.4 steals per game and in blocks by Race Herr at 1.2 blocks per game.
 
The Tigers are coached by Daniel Wheeler, who is in his fourth season at East Central. In his time at ECU, Wheeler is 48-51.
 
SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern Oklahoma enters this weekend 4-10 overall and 3-5 in the GAC. The Savage Storm will have played a game on the road against Harding on Thursday night prior to taking on Tech on Saturday afternoon. Heading into the weekend, the Savage Storm are coming off a loss their last time out, falling to Arkansas-Monticello, 77-66, at home this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Savage Storm average 74.6 ppg and rank seventh in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Savage Storm rank 12th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 82.1 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Savage Storm are sixth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .459 (367-of-799) and allow their opponents to post a .490 mark (431-of-879) to rank 12th.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Savage Storm shoot at a clip of .344 (125-of-363) to rank second in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .373 (110-of-295) to rank 12th. From the free throw line, the Savage Storm shoot .743 as a team (185-of-249) to rank fifth.
 
Individually, the Savage Storm have two players averaging double figures in scoring. They are led by Chandler Dickinson and Ethan Wilkerson at 13.9 ppg each.
 
Wilkerson is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Jamal Drewery leads the team and is averaging 4.9 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Savage Storm are led in steals by Santiago Camacho Gomez at 1.4 steals per game and in blocks by Wilkerson at 0.6 blocks per game.
 
The Savage Storm are coached by Kelly Green, who is in 15th season at Southeastern Oklahoma and his 16th overall. In his time at SE, Green is 222-189. For his career, Green has amassed a 230-207 record.
