RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech head women's basketball coach
Dave Wilbers has announced the hiring of
Marc Ellis as the team's assistant coach.
Ellis comes to Tech after spending the 2024-25 season as an assistant at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas. In that year, Ellis helped lead the Saints to a 20-12 record, which included ranked wins over No. 6 Dodge City and No. 25 Butler. In charge of in-game substitutions, Ellis also coached a trio of players that went on to sign to play Division I basketball.
Last year's stint at Seward was the second for Ellis as his first came in the 2021-22 season. That year, he worked as a volunteer assistant and helped lead the team to the Region VI Final Four.
After that initial time at Seward, Ellis spent two years at Rocky Mountain College as an assistant coach where he coached alongside the 2022 NAIA Coach of the Year, Wes Keller. In 2023 he helped lead the Battlin' Bears to the Second Round of the NAIA National Tournament while getting Rocky Mountain to as high as the 10th ranked team in the country at the NAIA level. Through two years Ellis coached a plethora of high-level players which included All-American and all-conference selections as well as the program's all-time leader in point, Kloie Thatcher.
Ellis began his coaching career at Grand View University where he helped lead the school to their first ever NAIA National Tournament in 2018 as a graduate assistant. Following his time as a grad assistant, Ellis moved into a full-time position in the 2019-20 season where he helped lead Grand View to their first ever Top-25 ranking in the national polls.
Ellis earned his associate's degree at Highland Community College, a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at Wartburg University, and received a master's degree in Sports Management from Grand View in 2019.
