ENID, Okla. – The No. 1-seed Arkansas Tech baseball team suffered an 8-6 loss on Friday afternoon at the Great American Conference Tournament to No. 4-seed Harding, sending Tech into an elimination game against No. 8-seed Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday morning.
Southeastern played their way into the rematch with Tech after they staved off elimination and beat No. 5-seed Ouachita Baptist, 8-6 earlier in the day on Friday.
First-pitch for the game between Tech and Southeastern will be Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
In their game against Harding, Tech fell behind early 2-0 as the Bisons scored single runs in the first and second innings. The Wonder Boys would get one of those runs back in the bottom of the second on a sac fly from
Kirby Jenkins.
The 2-1 score after the Jenkins RBI held until the top of the fifth when the Bisons struck for six runs on five hits to break the game open and grab an 8-1 lead.
The Wonder Boys would get a run back in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run from
Tyler Sardelli and then scored three runs in the sixth to make it an 8-5 game. In the eighth, the Wonder Boys scored on wall-banging double by Jenkins to pull within two runs, 8-6.
In the bottom of the ninth, however, the Wonder Boys would be retired in order to end the game.
