SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech softball team lost both games of their doubleheader at Oklahoma Baptist on Friday, losing 8-2 in game one and 4-0 in game two.
GAME ONE
The opening game was a scoreless stalemate through the first three innings until the Golden Suns broke through with a run in the top of the fourth. That run was a RBI single by
Sharlee Jackson that scored
Maycie Hardy who had singled in the at-bat prior.
Unfortunately, Oklahoma Baptist also broke through in the run column in the fourth, but did so with four runs in the frame to take a 4-1 lead. A quick 1-2-3 inning by the Bison in the top of the fifth then gave way to a second four-run inning as Oklahoma Baptist went up 8-1.
The Golden Suns would score one more in the game, doing do in the top of the seventh, to bring the game to its final of 8-2. The run that was scored was a leadoff home run by
Caroline Wilhelm.
GAME TWO
In the second game, the Golden Suns were limited to just four hits, all singles. Oklahoma Baptist managed just two more hits than Tech, but all but one of those hits went for extra-bases as the Bison scored a run in the second and three in the third to give them the 4-0 victory.
UP NEXT
The Golden Suns will now prepare for their final weekend series of the regular season. That series will be against Southwestern Oklahoma and will take place at Tech.
