SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech softball team lost the opening game of their three-game Great American Conference series on the road at Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday night by a score of 4-2.
Both of the Golden Suns' runs in the game were scored in the top of the first inning as they scored twice with two outs. A one-out walk to
Kacie Gibbins started things in the inning and her walk was immediately followed with a free pass to
Sadie Turner as well.
After the second out was made by Oklahoma Baptist, the Golden Suns got consecutive RBI base hits from
Sharlee Jackson and
Caroline Wilhelm to give them a 2-0 lead.
Oklahoma Baptist would get their first run of the game in the bottom of the second and did so with a sacrifice fly. An inning later, the Bison took the lead, 4-2, on the strength of a three-run home run. That also ended up being the last runs scored in the game.
The Golden Suns will look to bounce back on Friday as they will play a doubleheader with the Bison starting at Noon.
