Sadie Turner homers twice at No. 11 Rogers State; Golden Suns drop doubleheader

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech softball team carried their season-high eight-game winning streak on the road on Tuesday and played at No. 11-ranked Rogers State. The Golden Suns would lose both games to Rogers State, but in the defeat, senior outfielder Sadie Turner hit a pair of home runs.

GAME ONE
The first game of the twinbill was a pitcher's duel through and through as the two teams combined for just five runs on seven hits. All of the runs scored in the game also came via the long ball, unfortunately, Rogers State connected for more than the Golden Suns.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when the Hillcats got a two-out solo home run to left field. The Golden Suns were able to tie the score in the top of the sixth on a solo home run from Turner. Later in the frame, the Golden Suns loaded the bases with two outs, but were unable to push across any more runs.

The Hillcats were able to utilize that momentum of stranding the bases loaded in their half of the sixth as they got another clutch two-out home run, this time, it was a three-run shot that broke the tie and gave Rogers a 4-1 lead that became the eventual final.

GAME TWO
In the second game, Rogers State got out to a 4-0 lead through three innings of play and then pushed out to a 5-0 lead with a run in the fifth. The Golden Suns were finally able to crack the scoreboard themselves in the top of the sixth on the second solo home run of the day for Turner.

She now leads the team with six home runs.

Rogers State answered that home run with a pair of their own in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three times to bring the score to its final of 8-1.
