MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech baseball team dropped the first two games of their road series at Arkansas-Monticello, losing both games of their Friday doubleheader.
GAME ONE
In the opener, the Wonder Boys struck first with a three-run top of the first inning, but that initial lead did not last as long as hoped as UAM plated a pair of runs themselves in their half of the frame. An inning later, UAM tied the game at three-all.
The Wonder Boys would regain the lead in the top of the fourth on a RBI single from
Luke Ray, but again, UAM had an answer in their half. This time, the Boll Weevils scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take their first lead of the game at 5-4.
UAM would go on to tack on two more runs in the fifth and broke the game open in the sixth with five runs in that inning.
Kolby Webb would collect a sac fly RBI in the top of the ninth for the Wonder Boys' fifth and final run of the game.
GAME TWO
Game two started out similar to the first game as Tech scored multiple runs in the top of the first inning. This time, the Wonder Boys would score a pair of runs and were out to a 2-0 lead through one of the seven-inning game.
Unfortunately, the UAM bats continued to be potent and the Boll Weevils would score nine total runs over the second and third innings to put the game firmly in their grasp. UAM would also go on to score twice in the fourth and once in the seventh to bring the score to its final of 12-2.
