ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech baseball team dropped the final game of their road series at Ouachita Baptist on Sunday, as Ouachita scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat Tech, 6-4.
The Wonder Boys opened up the game in the top of the first inning with a run on a
Simon Murray RBI groundout that scored
Tyler Sardelli. Two batters earlier, Sardelli led the game on with the first of his three doubles. The Tigers were able to tie the score in their half of the first.
In the third, the Wonder Boys broke the tie on a RBI double from Sardelli. After neither team scored over the next three innings, the Wonder Boys got single runs in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively to take a 4-1 lead.
The run in the seventh was scored on a sac fly by
Christian Olea while the run in the eighth scored on a RBI base hit by
Brendyn Bard.
In the bottom of the ninth, Ouachita got their game-winning rally going with consecutive walks. Both of those base runners came around to score ahead of the three-run home run that ended the game.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare for a mid-week home game this Tuesday against Mississippi College. First-pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
