SEARCY, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech softball team played the first two games of their home-and-home split conference series against No, 15-ranked Harding on the road on Tuesday evening and dropped both ends, 4-1 and 4-0.
GAME ONE
The opening game of the Tuesday twin-bill was a pitcher's duel as the game was scoreless through the first five innings of play.
Tech was able to break the scoreless gridlock in the top of the sixth as they scored a run on one hit while also benefiting from a pair of Harding errors.
Neveah Wilson led the inning off with a walk and then got to third during the next at-bat as
Sadie Turner's single also had a fielding error by the Harding right fielder.
The lone run for Tech in the game then scored as
Kacie Gibbins reached on a fielding error by Harding's shortstop. Harding was able to retire the next three batters in order to avoid any further damage.
In the bottom of the sixth, Harding quickly loaded the bases with no outs on a single, a hit-by-pitch and an infield single. After a flyout, the Lady Bisons got the clutch hit needed on a bases-clearing double to take a 3-1 lead. They then added a run of insurance in the next at-bat on a RBI single to bring the game to its final of 4-1.
GAME TWO
In the nightcap, Harding was quick to jump on the board as they scored a pair of runs before Tech was able to record the first out of the bottom of the first. The Lady Bisons then doubled their lead in the fourth with a pair of runs scoring with two outs.
The Golden Suns were limited offensively in the second game and managed just three hits.
