Golden Suns stymied at Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team opened up their final weekend trip to the State of Oklahoma on Thursday night and played at Southern Nazarene. Tech would be limited offensively as SNU won 70-46.

Overall, for the game, the Golden Suns were held to just 32% shooting overall from the floor (16-of-50). Their most productive quarter of action offensively came in the second as the Golden Suns shot 50% overall, going 6-of-12 from the floor. That would also be Tech's highest-scoring period as it yielded 14 points.

Through one quarter of play, the Golden Suns only trailed by a point, but despite their solid offensive second quarter, SNU was able to do more damage in the period as they knocked down five of their 10 three-pointers in the game and out-scored Tech 21-14 to give the Crimson Storm an eight-point lead at the break, 33-25.

From there, the Crimson Storm continued to build upon their lead offensively as they also clamped down defensively, allowing just six made field goals over the final 20 minutes of action.

Hayleigh Wyrick was the leading scorer for the Golden Suns with 17 points. Dessie McCarty was next with eight points. The seven other Golden Suns to appear in the game also scored at least two points.
