SHAWNEE, Okla. – Arkansas Tech freshman forward
Dessie McCarty tied a season-high 15 points in Tech's 79-59 loss on the road at Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
It was the sixth time in her freshman season that McCarty has scored double-digit points and her first since scoring 12 against Arkansas-Monticello back on December 19. Her 15 points against Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday tied the season-high she set against on the road at Northwestern Oklahoma back in early December.
In Saturday's game against the Bison, McCarty came off the bench and provided a scoring lift as she was 6-of-12 overall from the floor. She was also 3-of-3 from the free throw line and added a team-high nine rebounds as she narrowly missed out on her second career double-double.
As a team, the Golden Suns were unable to match the offensive firepower that the Bison put on display as Oklahoma Baptist knocked down 13 three-pointers for the game. That three-point success helped the Bison build up a double-digit lead early in the second quarter that they would not relinquish the rest of the way out.
Joining McCarty in scoring in double digits in the game were AbbieGrace Cunningham and
Andie Zylak as the two scored 11 points apiece.
The Golden Suns will now prepare to return home where they will play five of their final six regular season games. First among those is this coming Thursday night against Harding. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
