Wonder Boys snap skid with dominant 70-47 win vs. East Central

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team returned to the win column on Sunday afternoon with a dominant 70-47 win against East Central at home. The win snapped what was a six-game losing skid for the Wonder Boys and kept them in contention for the eighth and final seed in the upcoming GAC Basketball Tournament.

The Wonder Boys would jump out to quick start and never looked back as they led wire-to-wire. At the beginning of game, Tech opened up on an 11-0 run and held East Central scoreless through the first six minutes.

The Tigers would get their deficit into single digits several times throughout the first half, but only got as close as seven points of the lead. Tech would go into the half leading by 12, 27-15.

In the second half, the Wonder Boys and Tigers traded blows early, but Tech was still able to maintain a comfortable lead. By the 5:58 mark, the lead reached 20 points and then hit an apex of 26 points at the 2:28 mark. By the final horn, the margin was 23 points in favor of the Wonder Boys.

For the Wonder Boys, seven players scored at least six points with three reaching double figures. Braden Tanner was the leading scorer with 15 points followed by Seybian Sims and his 13. Cassius Brooks rounded out double-figure scoring with 11 points.

The Wonder Boys will now prepare for a crucial road game at Henderson State this coming Thursday evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
