TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team has hit the stretch run of their 2024-25 regular season and are in a battle to secure a spot in the upcoming GAC Basketball Tournament. With four games left, three of those are at home, starting first with a Friday night game against Southeastern Oklahoma.

This will be 42nd meeting all-time between Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma. In a series that dates back to 1949, the series has been played in earnest since 2012 when they two became conference rivals. Overall, Arkansas Tech holds a 23-18 advantage in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 9-15 overall and 6-12 in the GAC. Tech has lost their last five games and are coming off a 68-62 loss at home against Ouachita Baptist this past Saturday.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 66.0 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 66.7 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are 10th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .430 (567-of-1,320) and allow their opponents to shoot at a .433 mark (552-of-1,274) to rank third.

From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .292 (143-of-490) to rank 12th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .349 (176-of-505) to rank eighth. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .716 as a team (307-of-429) to rank eighth.

Individually, the Wonder Boys have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by
Cassius Brooks and his 18.9 ppg.
Carlos Ramsey Jr. is next and rounds out double-digit scoring at 10.9 ppg.

Seybian Sims is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 7.6 rebounds per game. In terms of assists,
Kade Shaffer leads the team and is averaging 3.6 assists per game.

Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by
Brooks at 1.5 steals per game and in blocks by
Albright Obode at 0.7 blocks per game.

The Wonder Boys are coached by
Mark Downey, who is in his fifth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.

In his time at Tech, which is now in its ninth season overall, Downey has amassed a 144-109 record. Overall, Downey is in his 18th season as a head coach and has career record of 310-215.

SCOUTING THE SAVAGE STORM
Southeastern Oklahoma is 9-15 overall and 7-11 in conference play. The Savage Storm are coming off an 85-75 loss on the road at Southwestern Oklahoma this past Saturday. Prior to that, Southeastern had won their last three games.

Statistically, the Savage Storm average 78.2 ppg and rank third in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Savage Storm rank 12th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 78.7 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Savage Storm are fifth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .467 (687-of-1,471) and allow their opponents to post a .470 mark (702-of-1,493) to rank 10th.
