RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team played their annual school day special on Tuesday and treated the over 1,100 local elementary school kids to an impressive 94-51 win over visiting Ecclesia College.
The Wonder Boys controlled the game from the outset and by the 11:21 mark of the first half, held a double-digit lead. Scoring at a highly-efficient clip of 65% (17-of-26) in the first half, the Wonder Boys pushed their lead out to 20 points at the 3:52 mark and went into the locker room with a 27-point lead, 47-20.
It would not take long for the lead to reach the 30-point mark in the second half as the Wonder Boys did so on an
Aiden Underdown layup at the 18:50 mark. The second-half lead later pressed into the 40s by the 10:32 mark on a three-pointer from
Brody Emberton.
The overall high watermark lead for the Wonder Boys was 48 and came on a
Connor Davis three-pointer with 6:40 left, making it 83-35, Tech.
The Wonder Boys would maintain a lead in the 40s the rest of the way out before ending with a 43-point margin of victory.
In the win, the Wonder Boys had 13 players see action in the game and five reach double-figures.
David Elliott IV led the way with a season-high 22 points. Elliott IV was 6-of-8 from the floor, 2-of-3 from three-point range and 8-of-11 from the free throw line.
Davis was next in scoring with 14.
Donyae May and Underdown were one-point back of Davis with 13 points apiece.
Damon Augustus rounded out double-figure scoring with 10.
The Wonder Boys will now prepare to turn their attention solely towards the remainder of their GAC schedule, starting first with a road game at Henderson State on Thursday, December 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.
