TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team has played five of their six non-conference games this season and are set to turn their attention towards the beginning of their Great American Conference schedule at home this weekend with games against Northwestern Oklahoma on Thursday night and Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon.
 
This will be the 27th meeting all-time between Tech and Northwestern Oklahoma. The series began in 1971 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2013. The Wonder Boys currently hold a 16-10 record in the series.
 
Against Southwestern Oklahoma, this will be the 43rd meeting all-time between Tech and SWOSU. The series began in 1980 but has been played in earnest as conference rivals since 2012. The Wonder Boys currently hold a 27-15 record in the series.
 
Tip-off for the Northwestern Oklahoma game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 4 while the Southwestern Oklahoma game will have a 3 p.m. tip-off on Saturday, December 6. Both games will take place inside Tucker Coliseum on the campus of Arkansas Tech.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are off to a 1-4 start to their season and are coming off a 90-72 loss on the road at Missouri Western this past Friday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 72.7 ppg and rank 12th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank 10th in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 81.0 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .453 (131-of-289). Their opponents are shooting at a .449 mark (132-of-294) to rank eighth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .328 (38-of-116) to rank eighth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .343 (46-of-134) to rank eighth. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .678 as a team (61-of-90) to rank eighth.
 
Individually, the Wonder Boys have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Sam Bradford and his 15.4 ppg. David Elliott IV is next in scoring and rounds out double-figure scoring at 13.4 ppg.
 
Brody Emberton is leading the team in rebounding and is averaging 4.7 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Elliot IV leads the team and is averaging 2.8 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by Elliott IV at 2.6 steals per game and in blocks by Brian Kitenge at 1.0 blocks per game.
 
The Wonder Boys are coached by Mark Downey, who is in his sixth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.
 
In his time at Tech, which is now in its 10th season overall, Downey has amassed a 148-115 record. Overall, Downey is in his 19th season as a head coach and has career record of 314-221.
 
SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Northwestern Oklahoma is off to a 3-3 start to their season. They have won their last two games with the most-recent being an 85-83 win at home against Emporia State this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Rangers average 77.2 ppg and rank ninth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Rangers rank eighth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 79.0 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Rangers are sixth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .484 (165-of-341) and allow their opponents to post a .472 mark (171-of-362) to rank 11th.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Rangers shoot at a clip of .361 (35-of-97) to rank fourth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .368 (49-of-133) to rank 11th. From the free throw line, the Rangers shoot .690 as a team (98-of-142) to rank sixth.
 
Individually, the Rangers have three players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Max Alexander and his 22.5 ppg. Robbie Armbrester is next at 17.0 ppg while Keyondre Young rounds out double-figure scoring at 10.3 pgg.
 
Armbrester is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 6.0 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Alexander leads the team and is averaging 3.5 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Rangers are led in steals by Cam'Ron Brown and Armbrester at 1.8 steals per game and in blocks by Justin Norris at 0.5 blocks per game.
 
The Rangers are coached by Robbie Harman, who is in his fourth season at Northwestern Oklahoma. In his time at NWOSU, Harman has amassed a 45-46 record.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Southwestern Oklahoma is off to a 3-3 start to their season. They have won their last two games with the most-recent being an 84-58 win at home against Southwestern Christian this past Monday. The Bulldogs will have played a game at Harding on Thursday night prior to taking on Tech on Saturday afternoon.
 
Statistically, the Bulldogs average 73.7 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Bulldogs rank fourth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 66.3 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Bulldogs are 11th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .446 (164-of-368) and allow their opponents to post a .418 mark (142-of-340) to rank fifth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Bulldogs shoot at a clip of .317 (46-of-145) to rank ninth in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .268 (33-of-123) to rank second. From the free throw line, the Bulldogs shoot .687 as a team (68-of-99) to rank seventh.
 
Individually, the Bulldogs have two players averaging double figures in scoring and two averaging at least 9.0 ppg. They are led by Ty Frierson and his 13.2 ppg. Kayden Carter is next and rounds out double-figure scoring at 12.3 ppg. Elijah Jordan and Kray Rogers at 9.8 and 9.0 ppg, respectively.
 
Rogers is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Rogers leads the team and is averaging 3.0 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Bulldogs are led in steals by Frierson and Tucker Shepherd at 1.7 steals per game and in blocks by Carter at 1.0 blocks per game.
 
The Bulldogs are coached by Brett Weiberg, who is in third season at Southwestern Oklahoma and his eighth overall. In his time at SWOSU, Weiberg is 28-34. For his career, Weiberg has amassed a 75-127 record.
