RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Tech sophomore forward Dessie Lancaster has been named as the latest Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
 
It is the first GAC weekly award in the career of Lancaster and the first for Golden Suns basketball since 2023.
 
Last week, the Golden Suns were in action for just one game but came away with a 77-75 win at home against former rival Delta State, thanks, in part, to the defensive effort by Lancaster.
 
Against the Lady Statesmen, Lancaster posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. All but two of her 12 rebounds came on the defensive glass. Lancaster also added a pair of steals to her defensive ledger.
