RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech volleyball team saw their six-match winning streak come to an end on Thursday night at home against Henderson State, losing in four sets, 3-1.
 
Overall, the match was closely contested throughout, and the stats bore that out. Both teams would reach the 50-kill mark in the four-set match, but the margin was just one in favor of Tech, 52-51. In terms of overall points scored, that margin was also just one, but it was in favor of Henderson, 65-64.
 
The biggest disparities statistically came in serving. Henderson was zeroed out with five aces and five errors, but Tech was minus four with six aces and 10 errors. The Reddies also were able to gain three points on the Golden Suns on the block as they registered three more.
 
With the close play throughout, it looked as though the match might be heading for a five-set thriller with each team alternating set victories. Henderson grabbed the first set, 25-21 and then Tech answered back with a 25-18 win in set two. The third set went in favor of Henderson, 25-21.
 
In the fourth set and needing to win to extend the match, Tech jumped out a 5-1 lead. Shortly thereafter, the lead was as high as eight points, 15-7. Henderson battled back, however and pulled within two points at 19-17.
 
The Golden Suns were the first to 20 points and led 22-18 before Henderson closed out the set on a 7-0 run to upend Tech, win the set, 25-22, and the match 3-1.
 
Individually, the Golden Suns had one player in double figures in kills with 
Millie Allgood collecting 14. Four others had at least six kills in the match with 
Henley Hooks and 
Erika Hernandez being next with nine apiece.
 
Allgood would also collect 15 digs for a double-double. Current GAC Defensive Player of the Week, 
Samantha Wojtowicz led the team in digs with 25. 
Kenzie Garrett also registered a double-double from the setter position with a team-high 24 assists and 12 digs.
 
The Golden Suns will now look to bounce back next Tuesday as they travel to Monticello to take on Arkansas-Monticello. That match on November 4 is scheduled for 6 p.m.
