MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Arkansas Tech women's cross country team made history on Saturday as they won the 2025 Great American Conference Championship, finishing first among the 12-team field. The conference title is the first-ever for the program. Head coach Gabe Sams was also lauded at the GAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year.
FINAL RESULTS
The title also represents a breakthrough moment for Golden Suns cross country as over the previous five years, they had finished no worse than third and were runner-up four times. This year, however, the Golden Suns were able to get over that hurdle thanks to all five of their scoring runners placing in the top-25.
Audrey Hill was the first to cross for Tech and she would do so in fifth place with a time of 17:55.24.
Amaya Grant was not far off her pace and finished seventh with a time of 18:03.35.
Avery Stanley rounded out the top-10 finishing 10
th with a time of 18:18.18.
Hill, Grant and Stanley all earned First Team All-GAC honors by finishing in the top-10.
Peyton Carson was the final all-conference runner earning second team honors thanks to a 13
th place finish and a time of 18:25.50.
Libby Booth was the final scoring runner for Tech. She would finish 24
th with a time of 18:42.56.
On the academic side, Makenzie Epperson and
Alyson Greathouse were named GAC Elite Scholar-Athletes thanks to their 4.0 GPAs and at least 70 hours of college credit.
