TIPPING OFF
The Arkansas Tech men's basketball team makes it return home to Tucker Coliseum this Thursday evening as they will take on Oklahoma Baptist, who enters the game unbeaten in conference play at 6-0.
 
This will be 19th meeting all-time between Tech and Oklahoma Baptist. In a series that dates back to 1968, the series has been played in earnest since 2016 when they two became conference rivals. Overall, Oklahoma Baptist holds an 11-7 advantage in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 5-7 overall and 2-4 in the GAC. Tech dropped their most-recent game on the road at Ouachita Baptist this past Saturday.
 
Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 68.8 ppg and rank 10th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 67.3 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .430 (285-of-663) and allow their opponents to shoot at a .434 mark (279-of-643) to rank fifth.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .296 (81-of-274) to rank 10th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .333 (84-of-252) to rank seventh. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .704 as a team (174-of-247) to rank eighth.
 
Individually, the Wonder Boys have one player averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Cassius Brooks and his 19.3 ppg. Five other Wonder Boys are averaging at least 7.0 ppg
 
Seybian Sims is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 7.8 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Kade Shaffer leads the team and is averaging 4.0 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by Brooks at 1.5 steals per game and in blocks by Sean Cobb at 0.9 blocks per game.
 
The Wonder Boys are coached by Mark Downey, who is in his fifth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.
 
In his time at Tech, which is now in its ninth season overall, Downey has amassed a 140-101 record. Overall, Downey is in his 18th season as a head coach and has career record of 306-207.
 
SCOUTING THE BISON
Oklahoma Baptist is 9-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The Bison have won six-straight games, all coming in conference play. Their most-recent win game at home this past Saturday against Northwestern Oklahoma.
 
Statistically, the Bison average 78.8 ppg and rank fifth in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Bison rank fourth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 69.1 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Bison are sixth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .472 (332-of-704) and allow their opponents to post a .410 mark (299-of-730) to rank third.
 
From beyond-the-arc, the Bison shoot at a clip of .377 (93-of-247) to rank third in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .315 (92-of-292) to rank fourth. From the free throw line, the Bison shoot .747 as a team (189-of-253) to rank fourth.
 
Individually, the Bison have four players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by Terry Coner Jr. and his 16.8 ppg. Ricky Brown is next at 10.8 ppg followed by Ethan Scott at 10.3 ppg. Nathan Wilson rounds out double figure scoring at 10.0. ppg. Two other Bison are averaging at least 8.0 ppg as well.
 
Wilson is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 8.7 rebounds per game. In terms of assists, Coner Jr. leads the team and is averaging 3.2 assists per game.
 
Defensively, the Bison are led in steals by Coner Jr. at 2.0 steals per game and in blocks by Wilson at 1.8 blocks per game.
 
The Bison are coached by Jason Eaker, who is in his seventh season at Oklahoma Baptist. In his time at Oklahoma Baptist, Eaker is 108-73.
