TIPPING OFF
After four-straight games away from home, the Arkansas Tech men's basketball team is eager to be back in the friendly confines of Tucker Coliseum this Thursday night against Southwestern Oklahoma.

This will also be 42nd meeting all-time between Tech and Southwestern Oklahoma. In a series that dates back to 1980, Tech and SWOSU have played each other at least twice a year since becoming conference foes in 2011-12. Overall, Tech holds a 26-15 record in the series.

TECH(NICALLY) SPEAKING
The Wonder Boys are 8-10 overall and 5-7 in the GAC. Tech is coming off a 48-40 win on the road at Arkansas-Monticello this past Saturday afternoon.

Statistically, the Wonder Boys average 66.6 ppg and rank 11th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Wonder Boys rank third in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 66.3 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Wonder Boys are 10th in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .431 (428-of-993) and allow their opponents to shoot at a .426 mark (411-of-964) to rank fifth.

From beyond-the-arc, the Wonder Boys shoot at a clip of .285 (109-of-382) to rank 11th in the GAC while their opponents make three-pointers at a mark of .338 (132-of-390) to rank seventh. From the free throw line, the Wonder Boys shoot .709 as a team (234-of-330) to rank ninth.

Individually, the Wonder Boys have two players averaging double figures in scoring and are led by
Cassius Brooks and his 18.3 ppg.
Carlos Ramsey Jr. is next and rounds out double-digit scoring at 10.7 ppg.

Seybian Sims is the team-leader in rebounding and is averaging 7.6 rebounds per game. In terms of assists,
Kade Shaffer leads the team and is averaging 3.8 assists per game.

Defensively, the Wonder Boys are led in steals by
Brooks at 1.5 steals per game and in blocks by
Sean Cobb at 0.7 blocks per game.

The Wonder Boys are coached by
Mark Downey, who is in his fifth season back on the sidelines at Tech after a 10-year hiatus. In his first stint, Downey patrolled the sidelines at Tech for four seasons from 2006-07 - 2009-10. In his final season, Downey guided the Wonder Boys to a program-record 30 wins and during that season, the Wonder Boys were ranked No. 1 in NCAA DII for the first time ever.

In his time at Tech, which is now in its ninth season overall, Downey has amassed a 143-104 record. Overall, Downey is in his 18th season as a head coach and has career record of 309-210.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Southwestern Oklahoma is 8-9 overall and 5-7 in conference play. The Bulldogs have lost their last two games with their most-recent game coming on the road at Oklahoma Baptist this past Saturday.

Statistically, the Bulldogs average 68.6 ppg and rank 10th in the GAC. On the defensive end of the court, the Bulldogs rank sixth in the league in scoring defense, giving up an average of 71.2 ppg. In terms of field goal percentage and field goal percentage defense, the Bulldogs are ninth in the conference as they shoot at an overall clip of .432 (406-of-940) and allow their opponents to post a .460 mark (424-of-922) to rank ninth.

Brett Weiberg, who is in his second season at Southwestern Oklahoma and his seventh overall. In his time at SWOSU,
Weiberg is 18-27 and is 65-120 overall.
