ADA, Okla. – The Arkansas Tech women's basketball team was cold on offense from the outset and suffered a 63-44 loss on the road at East Central on Thursday night.
In the first quarter, the Golden Suns found themselves in a hole too big to climb out of as they made just 3-of-12 shoots from the field and trailed 20-8 through the opening period. Unfortunately, the momentum continued to trend in an unkind way against Tech as the halftime score was 37-13.
The Golden Suns did come out in the second half and saw improvements offensively. In each of the final two quarters, Tech out-scored East Central and held a 31-26 advantage in the second half.
AbbiGrace Cunningham would pace the team in scoring for the fourth time this season. All four of those instances have come in conference play and within the last six games. Cunningham also had eight rebounds to tie for the team-lead with classmate
Dessie McCarty.
The Golden Suns will be back in action on Saturday afternoon at Southeastern Oklahoma. Tip-off for the game is 1p.m.
